A Very Long Walk

Into Rioja

There was a very poor signal last night so no post. I will do a brief one now while having breakfast in Najera, on the bank of the river Ebro, the valley where the rioja vines grow.

It was another hot walk yesterday, through Logrono, which marked the start of La Rioja, and good bye to Navarra. I will miss the lovely Navarra red wine which is served lightly chilled, you do not come across ot very often. The rioja will compensate, although I only got one glass of something cheap and cheerful last night. The walking was along the valley, surrounded by  vines and there will be more of the same today. I stayed in a nice albergue (as alburgues go) in a tiny village called Ventosa. Had a reasonable menu Pellegrino with an American and 3 Canadian women, with aforementioned wine. Planning to go to Santo Domingo de la Calzana today. Hopefully will stay in the albergue at the monastery, which will be different  Thunderstorms forecast later, so need to get going . More later

Luxury!
