A Very Long Walk

On 12th September I will set out to walk the ancient pilgrammage route of  'El Camino Frances' alone. Starting at St. Jean Pied de Port in the French Pynenees, I will hopefully arrive 790 km (500 miles) later in Santiago de Compostela. The journey should take me about 5 weeks. I have a one-way flight to Biarritz, and will carry everything I need in my rucksack on my back during the walk and will stay in the Pilgrim Hostels.

I am walking in memory of my husband John, who sadly died on September 28th 2018 after struggling for many years with a rare neurological disease called Multiple Systems Atrophy ( MSA).

John was cared for in his final stages by Priscilla Bacon Hospice in Norwich, including extended stays as an inpatient.

The care for John at PB was absolutely amazing, and if they had not been there, I am not quite sure what would have happened. So, I am also walking to help to raise the £12.5 million pounds required to build the much needed more spacious and modern PB hospice on a new site in Norwich.

I hope you will follow my preparations and progress on this blog. If you click on 'My Website' at the top of the page you can find all my updates.
